Project Ethos: Fashion Extravaganza

Project Ethos is a fashion and art show extravaganza that took place at Fluxx Nightclub in downtown San Diego near the Gaslamp Quarter. Although Fluxx has developed a reputation as a cool dancing and drinking spot for the young adult crowd, everything changed for a day on February 25th. Project Ethos totally transformed the atmosphere from a run-of-the-mill Friday night club spot into a sophisticated and fun fashion experience. With seven designers featured on the catwalk and four artists exhibiting their work at the event, a red carpet entrance, and a heart-throbbing, feet-moving performance by rap artist MANN with his hit “Buzzin” featuring 50 Cent, Project Ethos is poised to become a San Diego fashion tradition that will only get grander and greater with each passing year.

The fashion show opened with ballerinas dressed in black. They entered from each side of the stage on delicate tiptoe, dancing and swaying to Kanye West’s “Dark Fantasy”. This tune was used throughout the show, with its inspiring refrain playing between each runway transition, giving chills to the audience as they awaited each new designer.

But at the end of the night, the main stars of this show were the clothing lines. Common themes for this year’s designers were bright colors, Spanish-styled sleeves and multiple-role clothing, such as the Cardiwrap by Kymaro®. As one of the main sponsors of the show, Fredrick’s of Hollywood held a special exhibition of their sexy summer swimwear, showing us the bright colors and bold patterns we can look forward to wearing as we hit the beach in this upcoming bikini season.
